First Newsletter- Jan. 21 2010

I would just like to start off saying, thank you all SO much!! All of your sacrifices and support have not been in vain. I am learning so much, and I am so excited to see what the Lord is going to do in my life and how He is going to change me. I plan to keep in touch throughout my year here and I'll make sure you all know what is going on in my life and in the ministry I am involved with. On that subject, I have some exciting announcements that have come about this past week.
First off, this is a working internship, so along with all of the other things I am a part of, I will be spending the majority of my time in what is called a ministry placement. The specific department I have been placed in is the Honor Academy call center. My job, as soon as I am done with training, is to call potential interns who have shown interest in the Honor Academy and see if they want to pursue that interest. I am very excited about this ministry opportunity and I expect God to use me in fabulous ways! Something I came to realize the first week I was here is that this internship is first and foremost just that. This internship is about doing the work of this ministry. Yes, I will grow. Yes, I will learn. But my purpose is to advance the kingdom of God. I am very excited about the Lord using me this year.
Also, I have been given an amazing opportunity to gain college credit as I take the courses that are offered here. This is a great deal where I am earning many credits for a very low price!! My classes include Apologetics, Worldview, missions perspectives, great books, portfolio papers, biblical survey and maybe a few others i'm forgetting. I will be getting credit for these and hopefully I will be able to get myself at least an associates degree within the next year and a half or so. God has opened really great doors for my future and I'm excited for it!!
I will also, hopefully, be involved in a ministry called DRiVEN. This is the Human Video ministry team. It is just like the drama team I had going a while back. I know the Lord will use that ministry to move in awesome ways. I am also excited to have fun while doing it to hopefully relieve the stress that my busy schedule will cause me. I am trying out for this in a matter of hours and I'm pretty nervous but excited at the same time. We have an awesome drama put together and my team and I feel ready, despite the lack of practice we have had.
One last thing before I go, I'm sure you have all heard about the mission trip to Israel I plan to go on. There has only been a slight change to those plans. At first, I was going to go with Global Expeditions, the organization i have gone with in the past, but the Honor Academy offers something called Adventure trips. The adventure trip this year is actually going to Israel and Jordan!! This is an amazing opportunity for me! These trips are exclusively for iterns of the Honor Academy only. This allows the trip to be less structured and have more freedom, because there won't be young teens with us. The trip will consist of 18 year olds and older. It is also much shorter then the Global Expeditions trip which will allow me to spend more time on campus; I was reluctant about being gone from campus for the whole month because I want as much from this year as i can get. It is also cheaper then the Global Expeditions trip, which is a blessing.
I wish I could go into more detail about everything here, but I'm running low on time. Feel free to text me, and I'll get back to you on the weekends if I'm able. Keep in mind that I'm very busy, but I still love you all a lot. What's even better is if you could write me!! I love getting letters and cards. :) My letter address should be posted. You may also e-mail me at justmegan92@msn.com and I'll hopefully be able to get back to you quite quickly.
Phone calls are quite difficult for me but not impossible.
Although I'm having a great time here in Texas, this internship is going to get more and more intense. I will be pushed, stretched and challenged. There is a banner in the basketball court that says "The hardest day was yesterday!" I believe that will become more and more true for me as time goes on. PLEASE keep me in your prayers. Thank you all, again. I'd love to here from you in any way. I miss you and hope to visit sometime in June.
God bless!!
LOVE- Megan.
